Embedded Video: Artificial Intelligence & Music

As teachers, it is so important to learn and incorporate and understand the technology that is so much a part of our students' lives. When we are able to interact with them and teach them using technology, this can help make the education process more meaningful and applicable to them (I Need My Teachers to Learn, 2009). One of the ways that we can do this is by embedding videos into our presentations or course communications.

For example, today I am going to be sharing a video that really caught my attention. My own recent studies about artificial intelligence led me down some cyber rabbit trails to the really interesting topic of music created by artificial intelligence. As a music-lover, I found this idea so captivating and interesting to learn more about. I hope you enjoy it as well:

  1. This made me think of the video my son played for me a couple of weeks ago. It's about the first singing computer. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41U78QP8nBk. It IS pretty amazing what can be done with music and computers; however, I hope computers never fully replace live singers. There's something compelling about seeing musicians in music videos or on stage. I can't imagine how AI could replicate that type of experience. Do you want to hear something funny? I thought the man hosting your video was actually AI because his voice sounded stilted and a bit choppy at times. I guess he is a real person! It makes me think that AI will likely progress to the point that we can't really tell the human from the AI, unless we are at a live concert, and maybe not even then!
